Description
Honey Rock Landing peaches are unique, canyon fruit. The trees are rooted in old, alluvial, mineral soils. This means our trees have access to divers macro-and micro-nutrients available from the soil through the ecology of the rhizosphere and microbial abundance. The high altitude combines with our intense sun energy to raise the brix levels in our peaches. The trees experience high heat by day, but cooler night temperatures help concentrate sugars in the fruit. Finally, our trees are watered by the beautiful Gunnison River that sculpted this canyon. HRL peaches are biological containers that capture the nutrition of an ancient watershed.
Beyond the natural conditions of our orchard, we also manage our trees according to Certified Naturally Grown standards. We do not use any synthetic and harmful chemicals. Our peach trees receive season applications of beneficial inoculations of compost with mycorrhizal fungi and other beneficial bacteria. We also use foliar spray applications to adjust any nutrient imbalances we measure through sap tests. Our goal is simple: To produce the best tasting AND nutritious peach possible. Currently, we offer two varieties of peaches—Red Globes and Glo Havens. These varieties are great eaten fresh, but preserve well through freezing, preserving, or canning.
